Extreme Makeover: Rustic Cabin Edition

The contributions of Flooring Solutions Inc. to the Girl Scout Meg Harries' initiative to refurbish Camp Moss Hollow Ladybug Lodge for at-risk girls was recognized in The Washington Post Wednesday, June 20, 2007.  The Post's feature "John Kelly's Washington" titled Extreme Makeover: Rustic Cabin Edition described 18 months of  planning and coordination that went into her accomplishment.  Before and after pictures may be seen by clicking here.

2001 Washington Building Congress 45th Annual Craftsmanship Award

Project:  Network Solutions, Loudoun, VA
Architect:  Griswold, Heckel & Kelly Associates, Inc.
Engineer:
  GHT Limited
General Contractor:  HITT Contracting Inc. 

This project was a phased 60,000-square-foot renovation of an existing two-story office building. The work included a challenging seaming effort with a mixture of carpet patterns and styles to complement the architect’s design concept.

"In 1998, Faizi Syed decided to buck the trend of what seemed to be happening to the flooring companies in the Washington, DC region. At the time, the carpet mills were purchasing flooring companies across the country in an effort to control all facets of the carpet industry. On the one hand, this was very appealing to the independent flooring company because of the influx of more capital; however, these flooring companies found themselves hobbled by the restrictions placed on them by their new owners. Suddenly relationships with vendors, which took years to establish, were cast aside because of sole sourcing. An emphasis toward standardization in both policies and procedures as well as a change in focus from customer service to the bottom line placed undue strain on the relationships with customers."
